Diet and Health

You are what you eat. I totally agree with this say because I think the healthier you eat the more chance you have to live longer. That is why I normally eat healthy food and avoid junk food. My diet is full of fresh vegetables, beans and fruits. I love to cook my own food and try to reduce the consumption of fat, sugars and salt, pops, chips. I use balsamic vinegar and olive oil in my salads. However, when in an emergency, I eat junk food; maybe twice a month.I should eat more fish and reduce meats and poultry, but the problem is that I have not found yet a good place where to buy it. The ways people live today make them eat more junk and less healthy food. And most of them get sick very often because of this.

Notting Hill

I enjoyed reading this book. I think it is a funny and wonderful love story. I like this kind of story. In addition, this book is easy to understand and it has an easy to comprehend vocabulary. On the other hand, my favorite part was when William’s friends tried to find a new girlfriend for him, but it was impossible because he’s in love with Anna. In my opinion, this part was funny because these women were weird and some of them a bit crazy. Also, I always enjoy the end of the love stories; of course happy ends like the one on this book. However, I would change Anna’s behavior. She was a selfish person; during the story, she only thinks about herself. I would change her character to make it more honest and sincere. Finally, I think this activity is very important because it improves my English while I enjoy reading a good book.

Housework

When I was a child my Mom tough me, my brothers and sisters almost every housework because she always said it was very important for a person to know how to do these things early in life. Our house works were different than the ones for my brothers. My sisters and I learned how to cook, to clean the house, to wipe the furniture, to scrub the dishes, to make our beds, to put the table and to iron my clothes. My brothers learned how to mow the grass, to make their beds, to wax and polish our car and to paint walls.
My favourite housework was to cook and the one I did not like too much was to iron my clothes.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS

My family and I like Christmas. Every year we wait for these holidays. We install some lights around the house and some decorative Christmas as well. My daughter always feels happy; she writes a gifts list for Santa Claus and expects to receive them all. We prepare a party and I cook delicious food for dinner on Christmas Eve. This day we exchange gift with our relatives.
In my country, Venezuela, this is an important holidays. People have a lot of parties before Christmas day: parties at work, parties at friend’s houses, etc. However, on December 24 it is a celebration with our families. Before this day we prepare food together as a family. The traditional Christmas’s food is called “Hallaca”. It is made with corn flour, pork meat and others ingredients but the important thing for this food is that it is cooked over with banana’s leafs.
During the whole month of December, and very especially on New Year’s Eve fireworks lights Venezuela’s sky.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

Technology Gadget: Wii console

I am interested in the new console Wii, from Nintendo. I have played Wii in my friend’s house and I find it very funny. What I like most from this console is the fact you can play as if you are part of the game. The technology can recognize your body movements through the remote controls and translated to the video game! This is awesome!
To really understand how Wii has revolutionized gaming, you have to try it for yourself. Wii is for everyone. It is for the whole family, including my daughter. It’s easy to use and interactivity of the Wii Remotes allows for a unique social gaming experience. You don't just play Wii, you experience it.
For example, the Wii Fit can let you play and at the same time burn some fat. It’s like being at the gym but at home. You can practice yoga, hula-hula and aerobics. Doesn’t it sound great? My daughter loves play tennis, Mario Kart, Carnival, and Bratz. I will try to buy one Wii for her and myself for Christmas.

Animals

My favourite pet is a parrot. My mother has two beautiful parrots in Venezuela. They’re exotic animals with colourful plumage. They whistle, sing and talk like my Mom, because she taught them how. These pets like several fruits and bread with milk. Every morning and afternoon my Mom feed them; when she forgets to feet them they call her. They live in a big cage that hangs of an orange tree. However, my Mom takes them out and they walk through the garden and trees. These animals are native from South and Central America. By 2009, these lovely pets will be ten years old. These birds can live for many, many years. I like these animals because they are great companion and with them you never feel alone. In addition, they can sing and whistle nice song.

The Nickle Arts Museum

Last Wednesday my classmates and I went to the Nickel Arts Museum. First, we saw there several painting exhibitions on the Main floor; one of them was Barbara Milne: Overland. It is an exhibition of painting about beautiful landscapes such as: still of the Night, Lost and Found, View of the Lake, Arcadia, etc. Then, we visited Moral Fibres: Textiles from the Nickel Collections on the second floor. I didn’t like this exhibition, it was weird for me. Finally, we went to the Nickel Coin Collection, situated on the Main floor. It is an extensive collection of ancient coins. There I saw some Greek, Roman and Byzantine coins. I think it is the most important exhibition the museum has. In my opinion, it was the most interesting thing for me. I would like to take my daughter to visit the Coin Collection.
